Fourways company invests in community
Empty lots in residential areas provide criminals with easy access to bordering residential neighbourhoods. Adding to this problem is unmanaged plantation, providing potential criminals with cover and at the same time, additional entry points.
One such an empty lot, located next to Southern Mapping Company (SMC) in Kingfisher road, is situated next to residential complexes. The lot was used several times by criminals as a gateway into the complexes, as it was completely dark at night. A large tree also provided criminals with easier access to the residential complex. SMC recently purchased the empty lot and when alerted to the situation, quickly took action by firstly removing the tree from the empty lot and later installing floodlights onto the three storey building, lighting up the vacant lot. Mr. Petrie Hamlyn, who is part of the body corporate for one of the complexes, voiced his appreciation. “We were very nervous about the whole situation and were thrilled to see that the tree in question had been cut down. The lights now also provide our residents with more peace of mind on security. Thanks to SMC’s quick action, there have been no further incidents in our complex.”
