Southern Mapping Company (Pty) Ltd was founded on 1 December 2006 with the aim of offering Aerial Lidar Surveys to clients worldwide. Southern Mapping Company is the first privately owned lidar company on the African continent.
Southern Mapping Company offers aerial surveying and mapping services to engineering, mining, environmental and government sectors worldwide. The company specialises in mining surveys for exploration or environment, linear route surveying such as powerlines, roads, pipelines, railwaylines and all forms of infrastructure, either new or existing.
Its team boasts highly skilled pilots and technical staff with a combined experience in laser (Lidar) surveys of over 100 years.
The team also consists of the original 7 staff that introduced the first Aerial Lidar Company in Africa. This team has been involved right since the inception days of Aerial Lidar Technology.
Company Structure
Southern Mapping Company is registered in South Africa. The company's Board of Directors consists of; Peter Moir (Chief Executive), Jim Vaughan (Technical Director), Norman Banks (New Business Director) and Jannie Engelke (Operations Director).
The company is managed by the four directors and has a total of 16 staff members. All non core business is outsourced to over 7 companies.
